North Carolina Hot Spots See Home Sales Plummet | Blank Slate Online
Oct 12, 2010
The National Active Retirement Association reports that popular N.C. areas for retirees are facing a real estate drought as homes sales plummeted $3 billion between 2006 and 2009.
Wilmington, North Carolina’s largest coastal community, sold $2 billion dollars in homes in 2006. However, by 2009, that number dropped half to just $1 billion in home sales.
Other areas also hit by weak homes sales is Asheville. Agents report only $567 million in home sales in 2009, compared to $1.13 billion in 2006. However, mountain communities by far have suffered the greatest loss where homes sales in Brevard have fallen 64 percent from 2006.
