Mortgage rates drop to another record low

For the ninth straight week, mortgage rates have continued to fall.
Freddie Mac reports the average rate for a 30-year fixed-rate home mortgage dropped to 4.42 percent this week from 4.44 percent the previous week, with the average 15-year loan falling to 3.9 percent.
The rate for a 30-year loan is at to its lowest point since Freddie Mac (OTCBB:FMCC) started tracking the data in 1971. The Mortgage Bankers Association says mortgage applications jumped 13 percent in the week ended Aug. 13, as more homeowners sought to refinance.
